Vocal Process Reports...
Integrated Voice
Module One
"I
rejoiced when this course came into being, and it has certainly
fulfilled my expectations!" Pamela Hall, singer, actor.
"As someone who
trained as an actress and then as a singer, the course has enabled
me to describe myself as a 'voice teacher with a difference' in that
I teach 'integrated voice'. I have more confidence in my teaching
because I have increased knowledge of the vocal instrument in terms
of its physiology, development and mechanical potential. I am much
more creative with my students in terms of the exercises I give
them, using a blend of speech and song, text and pitch, energy and
movement.
The students
themselves love the immediacy of the approach in that they can see
that a certain vocal posture will produce a certain sound (and may
help them reach those 'high' notes!) or that a particular vowel
placement enables them to find a more projected voice or a certain
accent.
My first years (17yr
olds) loved building larynxes, while my second years have been
fascinated by phonetics. I have had several students who refused to
sing at all last year, who will now sing in public and one of whom
played principal boy in the pantomime this December.
My own technique has also improved, through increased awareness and
control; also through having to internalise and disseminate the
information to my students."
