Finding Your Power Voice

Do you struggle to get volume?
Do you get tired when you need to sing big?
Do you have trouble sustaining the peak emotional moments?

Find more power in your rock vocals, more emotion in your power ballad,
more ‘kerching’ in your money notes

Discover which sounds carry best in your voice, and how to shape
your voice to make them.
Your voice, your presence, your power.

Where does vocal power come from?

- More breath?
- More work in the voice?
- More ‘support’?
- A combination of all 3?

Learn how to balance these different elements on Finding Your Power Voice.

1. Discover your own core voice – the basis of all powerful vocalising.
2. Boost your sound with your voice’s natural carrying power.
3. Sustain your power using the voice-body connection.

Finding Your Power Voice is a new one-day course from Vocal Process. Find how easy it is to make powerful sounds by working the right muscles and letting go of the rest. Sing within your own voice but make much more impact. Learn to play the acoustics inside your voice to sound louder outside. Practise the best warm-ups for power sounds AND the best exercises for developing them.

You can become skilled at choosing different types of power sounds for different points in the song – without straining. Discover belting and calling voice, edgy and bright voice, thick and direct voice. Power voice means being ‘open’ inside your voice to avoid damage. And being open in your voice means you connect with your audience.

Finding Your Power Voice will give you more sustaining power, stronger vocals, more presence.

Can I use this work in a group?
Yes. The techniques are easily learned and fun to do in a group situation.

Will I have to sing on my own?
We may ask for volunteers during the day, but you do not have to sing solo unless you want to. You do need to be ready to try things out with others in a small group.

Will it take me long to learn the techniques?
Not if your voice is healthy. We have had people learn and apply these techniques in less than one day.

Will I be able to teach the techniques to others?
Yes, although we recommend that you master them yourself first.

Vocal expert Gillyanne Kayes will lead the group through key exercises, and there will be an opportunity to check your practice in small groups. Please come prepared to explore and work on your own voice in a supportive atmosphere (it would help to have sheet music/backing tracks in your key). The work will include warm-ups, clear explanations of ‘how to do’, and practical application in song material.

We're looking forward to seeing you there!
