Heather Keens
Heather is a
professional singer, voice teacher and accent coach.
She trained as a
performer in voice and piano at the RCM and RCM Opera School, and as
a voice teacher at the Central School of Speech and Drama. A
finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Awards in Sydney, she has been
awarded numerous scholarships including an Australia Council Grant,
an Arts Council of Great Britain award, and an Austrian Government
Scholarship (to study lieder at the Mozarteum). Heather's 20 years
of performing experience include opera (Linda di Chamounix), musical
theatre (Nunsense II, the Second Coming) and concert work (vocalist
for Michael Hutchence, and cabaret with the Estrogenettes) Her work
in the recording studio includes TV voice tracks for Howard Davidson
and the BBC. She is now a freelance singer, teacher and voice coach
and currently acts as consultant to the Academy of Contemporary
Music in Guildford.
Heather's MA thesis
was on sung and spoken accent in Musical Theatre performance, and
Vocal Process is delighted to welcome her to the list of course
tutors.
